First off, sorry to my fellow drexelers. This thing hasn't been updated in forever! I'm now on coop, working at the MDA/ALS Center of Hope. It's quite convenient actually--it's right in center city so all I have to do to get to work in the morning is roll out of bed and grab the Drexel shuttle. That's the joy of working in center city!
I can't believe I've already been here for four months! I guess I should explain exactly what I do. I spend all day with ALS patients (which is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease). It's a disease with no cure in which you are trapped in your body. The body becomes paralyzed but the mind is still fully functional. So what in the world does an engineer do with this? Wellll I'm working to develop a brain-computer interface system in which you can type using a computer screen and your brain waves. Since a lot of patients can't talk, alternative communication is their only option. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me!
I also work with nurses, doctors, med students, research associates, and other therapists. It's the best healthcare experience I could ever ask for. Just because you want to be an engineer doesn't mean you'll never get to work with people.
If you want the details, certainly feel free to ask!

Freshman Year Reunion
Saturday night we decided it was time for a freshman year reunion. After not living together for 4 years we figured it might be time. 4 of the girls I lived with in Towers came over to my apartment with mass amounts of food. After an hour of flinging food and almost buring down the kitchen, we had a quality meal. We sat around the table eating and talking. It was just like those 4 years had never even happened. We laughed about all the ridiculous things we did as freshmen and how we've somehow calmed down a bit. But at the same time, we're still all the same people and could still carry on a long conversation. 4 years may have changed what we do, but it didn't change the family we created.

Oh football, how I love thee
The Patriots won!! Not that I thought they wouldn't. See, that's the problem with being from Boston and going to Drexel. Lots of people here love the Eagles. But, alas, the Eagles didn't do so hot this season. Maybe I'll be able to convert people to the Patriots .....wishful thinking, I know.
The best part about football season in college is definitely watching the games. It's great to have everyone sitting around, eating pizza and wings, and screaming at the television. What better way is there to spend a Sunday? Especially when there's no school on Monday thanks to Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Homework is no excuse to miss football games!
Buuuut, since I spent all day yesterday watching football, now I get to do homework. Oh joy. A day in the life of a student, right?
